Cisco announces alliance with SENA — National Training Service Center in Colombia
Bogotá, Colombia — Dec 9, 2008 On Tuesday, December 9th Cisco and SENA - National training Service Center – signed an agreement to train 5000 small and medium-sized entrepreneurs with the establishment of the Cisco Entrepreneur Institute. The first training center will be the SENA (National Training Service Center), which will bring the courses from the Cisco Entrepreneur Institute to 12 SENA centers in Antioquia and Bogotá in early 2009. For this initial phase, the first group of trainers is already trained and ready to deliver the courses. Starting in the second half of 2009, SENA will bring the content from the Cisco Entrepreneur Institute to all of its 115 training centers around the country with the aim of training close to 5,000 entrepreneurs within the next 12 months. Colombian Entrepreneurs now have the possibility to be trained in different topics (modules) such as: starting a business, growing a business and the business improvement with ICT usage. To really encourage and train entrepreneurs in the usage of ICTs, SENA will take advantage of the Web 2.0 technologies and advanced open-source tools such as Moodle and will also use collaboration technologies such as Cisco WebExTM for a rich e-learning experience. “We want SENA to be not only a Technical Training Center but an Entrepreneur Training Center” said Simbad Ceballos, general manager of Cisco Colombia. “The alliance will promote highlight the best of both companies to help those with concrete projects” said Dario Montoya Mejia, director general of SENA.
